Winter Wisdom: A Pre-Chanukah Mini-Retreat
Sunday, December 8th
7:00-9:00 pm ET
Virtually, on Zoom
Winter is on the horizon. During this time of uncertainty and fear, how can we draw on the wells of Chanukah wisdom, our innermost knowing, and supportive community?
“Plants and animals don’t fight the winter; they don’t pretend it’s not happening and attempt to carry on living the same lives that they lived in the summer. They prepare. They adapt…Winter is not the death of the life cycle, but it’s crucible.”
― Katherine May, Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times
This uplifting gathering will interweave:
Guided meditation periods
Wisdom from Judaism and other traditions for entering winter and Chanukah meaningfully
“Wisdom whispering” practice that helps us to call forth messages we most need to hear
Journaling prompts and discussion to help the learnings sustain us for the months ahead
All are warmly welcome, regardless of meditation background or experience with Judaism. All Hebrew terms will be defined.
Please wear comfortable clothes, bring a journal and pen, and feel free to have drinks and snacks (or a full meal!) at the ready. To the extent that it's possible, try to participate in the mini-retreat from a space that is relatively free of distraction, though any space will work. Turning your video on and unmuting your microphone to share will be completely optional.
In the week before the mini-retreat, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and other pre-retreat information.
There are a limited number of spots for this mini-retreat, so please register as soon as possible if you would like to participate.
Cost:
